A blend of stony reggae rhythms with a punk rock attitude, they spread their garage hall gospel all across America, creating a rabid, grass-roots following everywhere they went, especially in the surf/skate/snowboard communities. The trio which comprised Sublime was vocalist/guitarist Bradley Nowell, bassist Eric Wilson, and drummer Bud Gaugh. They played their first gig on the 4th of July 1988 at a small Long Beach club (a show which sparked the infamous Peninsula Riot). Sublime have developed a nearly fanatical base of followers since then. On May 25, 1996, however, Brad Nowell was found in a San Francisco hotel room, dead of a heroin overdose. Unfortunately Brad's tragic death cut the band's goal of a long-term career short. Let Brad's death be a painful lesson to you and never shoot up heroin.
